What to Do, Where to Stay and What to Eat in Myrtle Beach
What to Do, where to stay and what to eat in Myrtle Beach, SC! Recommendations for the animal and nature lover that wants to travel on a budget.
We just came back from our longest road trip by far with the kids! 13 hours in the car to and from Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. The beaches are absolutely gorgeous and we learned that we really love being by the ocean. I want to share some tips for visiting Myrtle Beach including what to do, where to stay and what to eat in Myrtle Beach.
We love traveling on a budget and bring a lot of food, cook at the place we stay and do frugal activities. Myrtle Beach was not overly expensive which was great.
Where to Stay in Myrtle Beach
We stayed in the most amazing Airbnb in Myrtle Beach. It had 3 bedrooms, 2 full bathrooms and lots of living space. The place was beautifully decorated and the kitchen was updated. We cooked many of our meals in the kitchen and it had everything we needed. The kids rooms are a little further down the hall from ours which was nice in the evening for when the kids were trying to fall asleep.
The best part was definitely the large balcony with ocean views! Just wow. We ate some of our meals out there, read our books and Troy and I hung out out there in the evenings. This Airbnb is also in a great location right around a ton of restaurants and fun places in Myrtle Beach. It is about a 2 minute walk to the beach from the room. They had beach chairs available to take to the beach which I have never used before and we found them super helpful!

What to Do in Myrtle Beach
We are a family that loves nature and animals the best so our favorite things to do in Myrtle Beach all revolve around that. Myrtle Beach has 60 miles of beaches and we truly loved being by the beach. Every single morning, we got up and walked on the beach to watch the sunrise.
I absolutely LOVED looking for shells, looking at the jellyfish, crabs and starfish and anything interesting on the beach. We even spotted some dolphins jumping out of the ocean.
Much of our trip revolved around the beach. We played in the sand and built sand castles. Adalyn and Troy boogie boarded and played catch. Myrtle Beach is super clean and the beaches have beautiful sand.
We visited Ripley's Aquarium which was a great way to see (and pet!!) stingrays, see sharks, many kinds of fish, jellyfish and more. It was a wonderful indoor stop which was located at Broadway at the Beach which we enjoyed walking around. There are many shops and restaurants and it is surrounded by water which is loaded with fish you can feed.
The kids loved visiting gift shops a lot too- not my favorite part but they had a lot of fun. We walked the Myrtle Beach boardwalk which has a ton of shops and restaurants too.
Where to Eat in Myrtle Beach
We loved the restaurant Crooked Hammock Brewery so much that we went twice! They have the best outdoor dining with hammocks, cornhole and other games. It was the perfect environment for our kids to run around while we waited for our food and sipped a beer.

Our waiter gave us some great recommendations for beers to try and the first time we visited, we got a bunch of appetizers to split. The second time, we got burgers, fries and salads. Everything was delicious and I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting Myrtle Beach.
We had a great time in Myrtle Beach and can't wait to return to an oceanfront beach vacation hopefully soon.

I have not been to the beach in so long. I think it is time to start planning a trip.
