Tips for a good night's sleep including drinking tea, limiting screen time, making your bed the coziest place and more!

I have struggled with good sleep for at least the last 8 years or so. I always have a lot on my mind and often have a hard time falling asleep. Therefore, I am always working on ways to help me sleep better. Today, I want to share my best tips and tricks that I use for a good night's sleep including sharing the Dream Deep pillow I'm loving. **Click here to get 20% off your Sutera order today.

5 Tips for a Good Night's Sleep

1. Drink a cup of tea

After we get the kids to bed, I love having a cup of herbal tea. On the nights that I am feeling particularly anxious, I like having a cup of chamomile or Sleepytime tea which helps to calm me down and helps me sleep better.

2. Make your bed the coziest place

I like to have my room cool and love for my bedding to not be too heavy for sleeping. I like my room to be very dark and to have a really comfortable pillow. I love the Sutera Dream Deep memory foam pillow. It fits around your neck's natural shape and gives support to built up tension and aches. I often get aches and pains in my neck and this pillow has been helping me so much.

I sleep on my side and the pillow is very supportive though it is also good for back and stomach sleepers. The memory foam is temperature regulating so it stays cool which I like.

3. Reduce screen time before bed

I'm not going to lie, I do not follow this but whenever I do, I feel like I fall asleep a little bit faster. When doing something like reading before bed instead of scrolling on my phone, I fall asleep better. Experts say not to watch TV or go on your phone an hour before bed and I'm sure this would be helpful.

4. Write down your thoughts

When you have items on your to-do list on your mind or different thoughts, it can be hard to calm down and fall asleep. I either email myself whatever I am thinking such as "make sure to buy more salsa" or "help Adalyn with math homework" or I write it down on a piece of paper next to my bed. I find that getting it off of my mind helps me sleep better.

5. When nothing else works, try melatonin

I try to do these other things first but when I am really having trouble falling asleep, I take a 3 mg melatonin supplement to help me sleep. I also try really hard to calm down because even melatonin won't work when you're anxious about falling asleep.

On the nights that I have trouble sleeping, these are the things that I do to get a better night's sleep. I hope these ideas help anyone who is also having trouble!
