Make-Ahead Smoothie Packs
Make-Ahead Smoothie Packs are perfect for meal prep to save time and are loaded with fruit, vegetables and superfoods for a healthy meal ready in 2 minutes!
One of my favorite things to make for quick breakfasts is make-ahead smoothie packs. Before I gave birth to Oliver and Lily, I remember prepping about 10-15 smoothie packs so I would have some easy meals ready to go when life was busy. I love making these smoothie packs because I am so much more likely to drink a smoothie when I have these packs made. Today, I am going to share some different smoothie pack ideas that I love.
There are tons of smoothie delivery services now that send you all of the ingredients in a cup to pour into your blender with some milk and blend. While I do love those, they are a lot pricier than making them yourself. I highly recommend prepping at least 5 smoothies packs at a time because it doesn't really take any extra time to make five smoothie packs compared to making one.
Ingredients for Make-Ahead Smoothie Packs
-Fruit- The main base of most smoothies is fruit. I like using fresh and frozen fruits depending on what I have on hand. Some great options are: bananas, raspberries, blueberries, strawberries, cherries, mango, pineapple
-Vegetables- The main vegetable that I always put into my smoothie packs is baby spinach. It blends in so easily and you can't taste it. I use fresh baby spinach or even frozen spinach works just as well. Other veggies that work well in a smoothie are kale, frozen cauliflower, cooked carrots or zucchini.
-Superfood Add-ins- When making my smoothie packs, I usually add some nutritious add-ins such as chia seeds, ground flax seeds, protein powder or Karuna Prebiotic Superfood Beverages frozen into ice cubes to easily blend into the smoothie when you make it.
If you've been following me on Instagram, you may have seen that I am a big fan of Karuna drinks. They have several lines of product including smoothies, immunity drinks, energy coffee drinks and recovery electrolyte drinks.
My favorite flavor is the Karuna Pro-Fit Cacao, Chestnut and Pear which tastes like a rich chocolatey drink but is actually nutritious with quinoa, chestnuts, cacao, oats, flaxseed, pear and monk fruit sweetener.
How to Prepare Make-Ahead Smoothie Packs
When you are ready to drink your smoothie, just dump all of the ingredients from the packet into your blender and blend with any milk of your choice. If you have a lot of ingredients in your smoothie pack, it may be helpful to let it defrost a little bit on the counter so that it is not too frozen if you don't like your smoothie too thick.
How Long Can Smoothie Packs Last
I have had smoothie packs in the freezer for probably up to 4 months at a time. The produce stuck together more after a while but it still blended together exactly the same.
Make-Ahead Smoothie Pack Formula
I like following something like this formula- please, never measure, just guess! I like doing about 1 cup of fruit, 1 cup of leafy greens and 1-2 superfoods (usually about 1 tablespoon together).
