Easy On-the-Go Meals for Kids ideas that are quick, nutritious and kids will love them!
We are often out and about during mealtimes but that doesn't mean that I want to turn to eating out. It is more expensive and typically less healthy than bringing food from home. Over the years, I have gotten really good at packing on the go meals for my family and wanted to share some of them for you. Whether you have a road trip planned, a picnic at the park or are just shuffling from school to soccer practice, these meals are perfect for kids for when you are on the go.
They come in 5 varieties: Ham & American Cheese LunchMakers® + Drink, Turkey & American Cheese LunchMakers® + Drink, Nachos & Cheese LunchMakers® + Drink, Pepperoni Pizza LunchMakers® + Drink, and Chicken & American Cheese LunchMakers® + Drink. My kids think that they are fun little meals and they think that it is a special treat!
Most of the meals come with a That's It bar which is one of my favorite brands of bars. They are literally just made with dried fruit (no sugar added) and taste awesome. Mom loves these as much as the kids do.
I picked up the Ham & American Cheese LunchMakers® + Drink andTurkey & American Cheese LunchMakers® + Drink at Meijer. Adalyn was so excited because a couple of her friends from school bring these for lunch.
These meals come with a Mott's 100% Juice Fruit Punch which is a treat for the kids because they love juice. It is a 100% juice. The Turkey and Cheese and the Ham and Cheese Lunchmakers® + Drink are a good source of protein (8-9 grams) and have 15% of your daily calcium and are great in a pinch.
It doesn't have to be complicated and you don't have to turn to fast food if you don't want to. There are tons of options for easy on the go meals that kids will love. Once you practice making meals on the go, it starts to come a lot more naturally. During the summer, we are constantly on the go and I just throw together meals daily. Meals do not have to be complicated to be tasty and pretty healthy. Enjoy!

Easy On-the-Go Meals for Kids
1. Snack Lunch
My kids love having a "snack lunch". I just put together some cheese, nuts, pretzels, peanut butter, fruit, veggies, etc. in a plastic container with divided sides and my kids love it. I can use whatever we have on hand and they love thinking that they are having a snack.
2. Armour LunchMakers® + Drink
I like these Armour LunchMakers® + Drink meals for when we are on the go and have zero time to throw together a meal. They would also be good for when we are on vacation near a Meijer store or another store that carries these and can pick them up for easy on the go meals at the beach or at a park. They come in 5 varieties: Ham & American Cheese LunchMakers® + Drink, Turkey & American Cheese LunchMakers® + Drink, Nachos & Cheese LunchMakers® + Drink, Pepperoni Pizza LunchMakers® + Drink, and Chicken & American Cheese LunchMakers® + Drink. 3. Easy "breakfast"
I slice up fruit, have leftover pancakes or waffles and cut a hard boiled egg in half and serve it in a to-go container. My kids think that these are super fun as well.Asian Chicken Ramen Noodle Salad |
4. Pasta salad
For a kid who is a little older (at least 4), pasta salad in a to-go container with a fork or spoon can make a great meal idea. I load mine with either whole-grain pasta or chickpea pasta, lots of veggies and protein like beans or chicken.Rainbow Veggie Pinwheels |
5. Any kind of leftovers
My kids will eat just about anything so if we are about to leave the house for the afternoon and they haven't eaten yet or I know that we are going somewhere where we won't eat right away, Troy or I will get together some leftovers in a to-go container and heat them up for the kids.It doesn't have to be complicated and you don't have to turn to fast food if you don't want to.
