Lily's 3 Month Update
Lily is 3 months old! I have a few updates that I wanted to share including how Lily is in physical therapy and of course, lots of cute pictures!
Clothing size: newborn, 0-3 months and a few 3 months
Diapers: size 1
Weight: according to our home scale- 10.4 lbs!
Feedings/Sleep: Lily is doing so awesome with her feedings! She is breastfed and eats at about 7 AM, 9:30 AM, 11:30 AM, 2:30 PM, 5 PM and 7 PM with a pumped bottle feeding around 11-11:30. She goes to bed around 7 PM give or take a little, Troy wakes her up a bit to feed her a pumped bottle and she sleeps through until the morning!!!!!!!!!!! Sometimes, she wakes up anywhere from 5:30 AM-7:30 AM for her first feeding. Any of those times are fine with me.
We stopped swaddling her a week before she turned 3 months old due to new recommendations for safety and she now sleeps in her Baby Merlin Magic Sleepsuit. I swear, her sleep got even better after she started sleeping in this so I highly recommend it. I can't believe that just like that, we are done swaddling. She sleeps in her crib all night long and every so often, in a pack and play if we are out somewhere.
Health: At Lily's 2 month appointment, we found out that she has torticollis (kind of like a crooked neck from being cramped when I was pregnant with her) and therefore, developed plagiocephaly (a flat spot on the back/side of her head. We knew that this was a possibility at her 1 month appointment and tried to do as much tummy time as a 1 month old would allow. Unfortunately, it did not get better and since Lily was 2 months old, we have been going to weekly physical therapy.
The PT works with Lily on different tummy time exercises, different ways for me to hold her, etc. She has a tightness in her neck one way and it is harder for her to do anything on that side so we focus on exercises that makes her work the weaker side.
She will most likely have to get fitted for a helmet at 4 months old. Overall, Troy and I have accepted this now but to be honest, this is hard as a parent. I love Lily so much and to see her go through anything is tough. Also, I do worry what others will say- I can't help it. So if you know me, please share some support about this issue because it is kind of tough. I know that after she has her helmet, she will be totally okay (according to her pediatrician and PT) so that is great.
It's kind of hard to admit these things on the internet (like when Oliver was having trouble gaining weight) but I know that I may be able to help a lot of other moms who may be going through the same thing so that is why I open up and share the struggles along with the good parts of parenthood.
Milestones/Tidbits:
-Right at Lily's 2 month appointment, she wasn't smiling yet and it had me worried and right after that, she started smiling a ton! She loves being sung to and any of us dancing with her arms and legs. She especially loves smiling at Troy, my mom and Adalyn.
-She keeps rolling over from her belly to back but I don't think that it is on purpose yet.
-She loves to be held by Adalyn and sung to. Oliver scares her a bit because he comes on just a little too strong at times.
-She is starting to grasp at toys on her playmat. She can track really well with her eyes and moves her head from side to side when you move a toy in front of her.
Life is good at 3 months old for Lily!
