How to Stay Fit and Active All Summer
This post was sponsored Optimum Nutrition as part of Influencer Activation and all opinions expressed in my post are my own.
We love Summertime! There is so much to do and the weather is amazing! We are enjoying all of the summery foods and are focusing on a few nutrition tips to feel the best we can and to have the energy to enjoy all of the Summer fun.
I love being able to get outside every single day because it is so, so good for my mood. Right now, my priorities are a little different than normal as I am at the end of my pregnancy! I am not working out quite as hard as I was - my workouts are more like a walk to the playground rather than an 8-mile run. Fitness and eating nutritious is still important to me though as they help me feel my best. Today, I am sharing my tips for how to stay fit and active all summer.

How to Stay Fit and Active All Summer
1. Eat all of the summer produce
Just like with exercise, the Summer also makes eating nutritious easier! All of the fresh fruit and vegetables taste amazing during this time of year. Farmer's markets are loaded with delicious produce and they are typically pretty affordable. Our garden is planted with lots of tomatoes, cucumbers and bell peppers, and we can't wait for them to be ready to eat. Choose a variety of fresh fruit and vegetables to enjoy regularly.
2. Limit calories from alcohol
We host a lot of parties all Summer long. Most of them are really small with just my parents, Troy's parents, siblings, cousins, etc. and it is one of our favorite things to do. We love entertaining in our backyard and of course, there are always yummy drinks involved. Just to note, I am obviously not drinking at this time.
We have been serving Michelob ULTRA Pure Gold, which is made with organic grains and has only 85 calories! It is triple filtered and brewed free of artificial colors and flavors. The Michelob ULTRA Lime Cactus is also perfect for Summer with only 95 calories and a refreshing lime flavor. My husband has been enjoying both of these and they are the perfect drink to serve guests at any Summertime party. Please drink responsibly!
3. Choose protein-rich snacks
Pretty much every single day in the Summer, we are out of the house and off on some kind of adventure. We always get hungry and are definitely a family of snackers. For a couple of years now, we have been big fans of Optimum Nutrition snacks. My son is 100% obsessed and we have gotten a lot of family members onto these products. Some favorites are the Cake Bites and Protein Crisps. The Salted Toffee Pretzel Protein Crisps are a crispy treat that have 20 grams of protein.
Our favorite is the Cake Bites! With flavors like Chocolate Donut and the Birthday Cake Bites, these protein-filled snacks are still so tasty and are covered in either a yogurt or chocolate frosting. Each serving has 20 grams of protein. All of these are tasty and super filling, which makes them great for on-the-go snacking. They’re so filling that my kids do not ask for another snack 2 minutes later!
4. Get out and get moving every day
I think that the Summertime is the easiest time of the year to get out and be active. With the weather being nice, it is way harder to make an excuse than when there is 8 inches of snow outside. Like I said, I'm not doing any hardcore exercise right now but every single day, I do active things with the family! These activities range from taking walks, going to our pool, taking the family for a bike ride, playing in the backyard, and more. It feels amazing to get fresh air and movement in.
My husband is in need of a new bike and the Men's Schwinn Sidewinder Bike from Walmart looks awesome. With 21-speeds, a mountain-style frame, light and strong alloy rims and more, it would be a great choice for him!
5. Start your day with a nutritious breakfast
In our family, we love breakfast! We switch things up every day but some favorites are oatmeal, yogurt with cereal, eggs, or a bowl of cereal. I love the Kashi GO Cereal in Peanut Butter Crunch, which can be found at Walmart (along with other Kashi varieties). It has 10 grams of protein per serving so it will actually keep you full compared to other cereals. When you toss it on top of some Greek yogurt, you have quite a high protein breakfast! I notice that when I have something like a bagel or an English muffin as most of my breakfast, I am hungry a bit later, so I need something that is truly filling like this cereal!
