Dragon Fruit Smoothies are a fun bright pinkish, purple drink that kids will love! My kids are starting to love smoothies and when they saw this brightly colored fruit, they were so excited to help me blend up a healthy smoothie for a snack. Just in time for How to Train Your Dragon 3 to come out on DVD so that we could drink our Dragon Smoothies together and enjoy the movie.
I remember the first time that I saw a real dragon fruit in a store and thought that it was so unique looking so naturally, I had to try it! I grew up in a family where we were always excited to try any new fruits and vegetables that we could find and I'm still like that to this day. Dragon fruit is also called pitaya and can have a purple or white inside with tiny black seeds. They are super unique!
Dragon fruit is rich in fiber, antioxidants and magnesium. You can buy them fresh in grocery stores or in frozen pieces in some stores. I went with the frozen dragon fruit for this smoothie but you can definitely use either.
How to make a dragon fruit smoothie
You can feel free to use whatever other fruits that you want in this dragon fruit smoothie but I decided to go with frozen banana, frozen raspberries, protein powder to make it filling, milk and of course the dragon fruit. This smoothie is protein rich from the protein powder and milk and full of antioxidants, vitamins, minerals and fiber from the fruit! A perfect snack or breakfast. When kids see this bright colored beautiful smoothie, they will be sure to want to drink it. I know that my kids were super pumped to drink it. I find that having them help make it encourages them to drink it so much more. Recently, Adalyn requested a smoothie for breakfast and I asked her to put the baby spinach in while I went and did something else. Well, she packed that smoothie with at least 2 packed cups of spinach and ended up loving it because she made it! Mom win!
How to Train Your Dragon 3
My kids love cuddling up for a movie night at home. We recently purchased the How to Train Your Dragon 3 DVD Walmart Exclusive DVD from Walmart to have a family movie night. This exclusive DVD set comes with 2 Funko keychains too.We went all out and also bought How to Train Your Dragon Stormfly dragon toy and a t-shirt from Walmart for fun. It made movie night so much fun. They have lots of toy options and even a t-shirt and blanket that is movie themed. Have you seen How to Train Your Dragon 3 yet? We were excited because they now have a girl dragon!
Without giving away any spoilers, this movie is fun to watch the dragons find the "Hidden World" which is a safe place for dragons to go. They introduce Light Fury, the girl dragon, who ends up falling in love with the Night Fury dragon. It is a cute movie for kids to enjoy! It teaches kids about friendship which is important.
