How to Host a Tea Party Playdate
How to host a super easy kid-friendly tea party play date with snacks, decor and dress-up clothes!
Adalyn is 4 now and loves having play dates with friends! She is into all things princess and tea party so I decided to have a tea party play date. I decided to invite over some of her preschool friends, their siblings and moms and have a little get-together for the girls to have fun together.
All of Adalyn's friends LOVE playing dress-up so much so I asked them to wear a princess dress or fancy dress. When they have gotten together in the past, they basically switch outfits 10 times so I knew that they would love this. We also had some boys over and they dressed so cute in bow ties and suit jackets!!
I kept things simple when it came to food and drinks for the party. Adalyn loves drinking herbal or decaf tea and feels fancy like mom and dad so I knew that she would love the tea party theme. I put out a variety of kid-friendly teas for them to choose from and heated up water on the stove so that they can choose which flavor they each wanted since I knew that they would all want different kinds.
I made Banana Chocolate Chip Muffins which went over really well for all of the kids and moms using my Banana Bread Protein Bars recipe and baking them into muffin tins. I also blended up some frozen strawberries, vanilla Greek yogurt and Beech-Nut Naturals apple sauce and froze them into these adorable shapes.
My mom collected Chintz tea cups, tea pots and saucers for a long time so I asked to borrow some of her gear for the party. You could also use a kid's tea set or shop at a thrift shop for tea cups for the party. Also, since all of the kids are 4 years old or younger, I wanted to keep it simple and not too formal since I knew that that would not be fun for the kids.
I had the moms over too because we are all friends and love to talk. I find it so helpful to discuss our own parenting issues and hard things we are going through with friends who can offer advice or will at least just listen. I feel blessed to have mom friends who I can talk to! We always end up talking about food at some point and sharing things our kids like and don't like. During the party, I told them all about the Beech-Nut Naturals foods which have been a success in my family.
I put out a variety of snacks for the kiddos including healthy banana chocolate chip muffins made with Beech-Nut® Naturals™ Just Apples apple sauce for a healthy sweet treat. These are my kid's favorite snack and we go through a triple batch so fast. I also put out some different fruits for the kids to enjoy as well as typical kid snacks like Goldfish. Might as well keep it simple and have foods that they like. My friend Krystyna also brought adordable cucumber and cream cheese tea sandwiches which were perfect.
For the little kids, we also had the jars of Beech-Nut® Naturals™ purees to sample. We love this brand because they have no additives like sugar or salt. They are inspired by homemade and is real food for babiesTM. My niece who is 10 months old now had a bunch of these purees and really loved them. She liked the carrot, corn and pumpkin and my kids like the pineapple, pear and avocado.
For Adalyn and Oliver, I pretty much made all of their baby food though we did use the Beech-Nut oatmeal cereal for iron as one of the kids first foods. For baby #3 coming in July, I know that I will be busier due to having three kids 4 and under and working full-time from home without any babysitters. I would definitely give the baby these Beech-Nut Naturals purees since they have no additional added ingredients to save time and for on-the-go feedings.
The party was a great success and I would definitely do it again! I never thought that I would be a themed party kind of mom but when I can keep it simple, I enjoy doing it!
