Castaway Bay Indoor Water Park: Fun for the Whole Family + Giveaway!
Family vacation to Castaway Bay Indoor Water Park and Resort!
We just got back from our third trip to Castaway Bay indoor water park in Sandusky, OH and let me tell you, we had the most amazing time. My kids are ages 4 and 21 months which were great ages to be there. There was something for everyone and from the baby to the adults, we all had an amazing time.

Our room was a suite which I highly recommend if you have a family. The kids go to be earlier than we do and there is one room with a king size bed and a separate room with 2 bunkbeds. There is also a giant closet that had plenty of space for my son’s pack and play for quiet and darkness. The room setup was perfect for us this time.
When you stay the night at Castaway Bay, you can use the water park the day of your arrival and day of your departure all day which is really nice. We always leave really early in the morning so that we can get to the park not too long after it opens so we can enjoy it before the kid’s naps and before it gets too busy. Since it had literally been a blizzard the night before, there was not too many people at the resort which was great. We were able to actually check into our room right at 10 AM which was great with the kids.
We got our suits on and went to the water park right away. Adalyn was pretty shy at first and would not go on any water slides except for the toddler one. I literally bribed her with a piece of candy to get her to go on one in the afternoon and she ended up loving it. The next morning, she was still scared to go on any of the other slides but I know my kid and know that she needs a little push to do something so I told her we are trying another one (you only have to be 36” to get on it and she is much taller so she was plenty old enough) and put her down one of the slides.
Oh my goodness, I created a monster! She ended up LOVING all of the slides and tried the two other slides (yellow and aqua) that were quite a bit bigger and went on each one no less than 12 times each. She needed no help or push after that and was so, so happy. I am very happy that I pushed her a bit to get out of her comfort zone because she had the best time and created memories that none of us will ever forget. What a joy to see!
Oliver absolutely loved the toddler slides and went on them again and again by himself. We have him wear a lifejacket the entire time so if he falls in the water, even shallow water, he is fine. Note: he has a bag on his hand because he had a temporary cast on that he couldn’t get wet.
We all had fun in the wave pool jumping in the waves and in the indoor and outdoor hot tubs which was crazy because it was 4 degrees out and to be able to swim outside was nuts. Adalyn kept making me go outside and my face was freezing! Troy and I took a couple of turns going on some of the adult rides like the bigger water slides which are so long and fast.
There is an awesome water roller coaster where you ride in a raft boat and I thought that Adalyn was too short for so we were each going alone. Right before we left the park, we saw that you only had to be 42” for so she could go. I went with her and she loved is so much. She loves a thrill at age 4! Then, she had Troy go with her again.
Whenever we visit Castaway Bay, we always have dinner at Quaker Steak and Lube. I typically get a salad but felt like crispy chicken so I got a crispy chicken club sandwich and fries which was tasty. The kids basically ate a bottle of ketchup with their fries and Troy enjoyed the burger he always gets with bacon, cheddar and a fried egg. We always enjoy our time there for a treat. We also always go to the snack shop where you can get a variety of flavors of ice cream in huge portions for an affordable price. This made us all happy!
In the evening after dinner, we went and colored cloth backpacks, sang karaoke, hugged Snoopy a hundred times and danced at a dance party. It was Adalyn’s first time singing karaoke ever and she sang 4 songs by herself. My only complaint is that they got rid of their Frozen soundtrack which most of the kids were asking for since that is what they know the words for.
In the morning, we got Starbucks from the snack shop since the coffee in the room was yucky. The Starbucks was much better. We brought our own breakfast to eat in the room because the kids like to eat right when they get up which can be 6 AM. One day, I want to try the breakfast buffet there too.
We had a great trip! Overall, I have no true complaints. It was great that the park was less busy than normal (also, we went on a Sunday-Monday which helped a lot). The kids had a blast and so did we. Castaway Bay is affordable in comparison to other water parks, has a lot to offer and is just plain fun!
