2018 Year in Review

It was another great year for the Hernandez family with some ups and downs as well. I love recapping our year in one big post, sharing what I loved about the year as well as the bad parts and looking ahead to the new year! I hope you enjoy.

January
-I think we chilled inside most of January? I don't remember!

-My mom, sister and I threw my sister-in-law a baby shower my house.

February
-We visited Castaway Bay water park which we LOVE!

-We visited Frankenmuth for my mom's birthday.

March
-It was a long winter and we enjoyed some time playing in the snow and sledding.

April
-Oliver turned 1!

-I became an Aunt when my niece Eloise Marie was born!

-April marked a year that I have been doing the blog full time and working from home! So much joy comes when I write this and I am thankful every single day that I get to be home with my babies!

May
-My mom, the kids and I vacationed on Mackinac Island.

-We went insane and started every house project in the book including painting our kitchen cabinets white, stripping wallpaper and painting our dining room, digging up our basement tile and putting a restricter on the pipe to stop flooding, got new heating and cooling units thanks to my father-in-law, and a HUGE 4 month project of turning our third floor attic into a gorgeous bedroom. We pretty much worked every single day from May through September. It was a whirlwind but our house looks amazing and we did everything ourselves along with some family help.

June
-The best vacation of the year was renting a house in Munising, MI in the Upper Peninsula with my family and exploring all of the waterfalls and Lake Superior. I will never forget this trip and hope to come back not this coming summer but the following. It was AMAZING!

July
-We visited Fennville and Charlevoix for some Michigan family fun!

-Troy and I celebrated 9 years of marriage and he turned 34.

-My niece Eloise was baptized and Troy and I are the godparents!

August
-After visiting Mackinac Island with the kids, I wanted to show it to Troy so we returned for a great family trip.

-We went to family camp with Troy's family which is so much fun!

September
-Adalyn started 4 year old preschool and turned 4.

-Adalyn started swim lessons and soccer for the first time which was so fun to watch!

October
-Troy and I went on our first childless vacation since having the kids to Washington DC and it was so much fun! We ate the most delicious fresh and healthy food and explored everything DC had to offer.

-We had fun celebrating Halloween as a family. Oliver was oddly amazing at trick-or-treating at just 18 months old.

-Our home was robbed- when I went out with the kids to a park, our home was robbed and a bunch of our stuff was stolen. We worked with the police for over a month and the robbers were eventually caught! Our sense of security was definitely gone.

-I went on an awesome brand trip to NOW Foods by Chicago.

November
-I've talked a lot about my parent's farm and of course, we took a ton of trips there all year long. The most memorable part is that they are building an amazing home there that will fit the whole family and then some. It should be done end of March and we are all SO excited.

-Oliver got his fingers stuck in the moving treadmill and got a third degree burn. This landed us in two different hospitals and was very scary. He is doing so much better now!

-I turned 29!

December
-We had so much fun celebrating the holiday season with the kids including lots of santa events, reading about the meaning of Jesus, decorating, Christmas movies, looking at lights and much more.

That's our year! It was a great one. Things are looking good for 2019!
