Sounds pretty obvious but if you know me, you know that I can't stay put- ever! I am always going, going, going and love to be out of the house and doing things. Since I started working from home in April, I am kind of shocked to say that I have actually enjoyed being home more which has surprised me. There is something about being in your cozy home with the people you love that is so comforting.
Here is how we make our home cozy in the winter:
1. Blankets, blankets, blankets!
In each room, we have blankets that get used all day, every day. Our two mini dachshunds can almost always be found burrowed under a blanket and if we are sitting down, we often are as well. Even if your home is warm enough, it is cozy to curl up with a warm and soft blanket.2. A hot beverage
Adalyn loves having hot chocolate, warm chocolate (AKA hot chocolate) as much as we will let her. Troy and I prefer a hot cup of coffee in the morning or a decaf tea in the evening. There is nothing like holding a hot mug of something to make you feel cozy and warm! I love my Cranberry, Lemon and Orange Cider or an Easy Maple Latte.3. Light a candle
The little flicker of a candle lit in your home is the ultimate way to feel cozy. We like having them in different rooms and lighting them when we want a cozy feel to the house!
4. Cook a comforting meal
I don't know about you but the way that we cook in the winter is quite different than how we cook in the summer. In the summer, we grill most days and have raw, crunchy vegetables. In the winter, my body craves totally different foods. I want my vegetables cooked for the most part such as my Rainbow Roasted Vegetables. A huge pot of soup is made weekly such as my Creamy Bacon Potato Soup, Smoky Sausage, Kale and Quinoa Soup or Stuffed Cabbage Soup.5. Cuddling up with the people you love
One of my favorite things to do is to cuddle up with family. Sometimes, we like watching a movie together. Adalyn's ultimate evening is having a cup of hot chocolate and popcorn while watching a movie. Other times, I will hold the kids and read them a book. Both things that I love with my little ones!6. Give your home a cozy scent
I love the Glade® Atmosphere Collection™ Fine Fragrance Mists that you can pickup at Walmart which give my home a wonderful scent that makes it feel like home. They come in four different scents including No. 1 Enraptured™, No. 2 Bright™, No. 3 Free™ and No. 4 Tempted™. They are super easy to use: just spray up and sweep side to side in a continuous spray. The No.1 Enraptured™ scent has notes of jasmine and rose, pink lady apple and honeysuckle. It is a lovely scent as I love jasmine and pink lady apples. No.2 Bright™ fragrance has notes of raspberries, jasmine, roses and sweet pea. No. 3 Free™ fragrance has scents of pineapple, citrus and starfruit, coconut and more. No.4 Tempted™ fragrance has warm, exotic spices with freesias and golden amber.
All of these scents sound great. I've been using the No. 3 Free™ fragrance and it is amazing. The primary scent that I smell is coconut but it isn't too strong or overpowering. I am very picky with scents and often think that they are too much but this one is amazing. I want to spray it constantly! They are infused with essential oils and are an affordable way to make your home smell amazing and cozy.
