How We Are Preparing for Baby #2
Our second baby is due in just 12 days (when I am writing this) and 4 days by the time the post goes live. Wow! This pregnancy has gone so fast, it's crazy. Yet the last month has been super slow of course as I am more uncomfortable and anxious for baby's arrival. We have had to do more than I even expected to prepare for the arrival of baby #2 and I wanted to share some of these things with you today in case you are in the same position of having another baby and need some ideas of how to prepare.

There you have it! Some of the main things that we have been doing to prepare for baby #2 (along with a million mini house projects and what-not!). Can't wait to meet you baby boy!
1. Making freezer meals
I researched a ton about freezer meals and didn't go too crazy making them but we have quite a nice stock ready to go. When we had Adalyn, I couldn't believe how little time I had to cook and this time, we determined that having meals made ahead of time was totally necessary. Some of the things that I made were Chicken and Black Bean Enchiladas, homemade veggie loaded lasagna, butternut squash soup, salsa verde enchiladas and a couple more soups. This should be helpful during the crazy newborn days (and witching hours!).2. Stocking up on essential baby items
We have a bunch of the main baby gear from when Adalyn was born but there were some things that I needed to stock up on such as diapers, wipes, burp cloths, bottles and more.
3. Having date nights
Troy and I do not get the opportunity to go out on dates a lot but in the last couple of months, I made sure to have a couple of dates with Troy. Getting out that first year is really hard (especially with nursing) so we wanted to squeeze a couple of dates in. We had the great opportunity to spend the night at a local hotel, go out to dinner and go to the movies. I love spending time with my husband and spending some time one on one was important to me.This rocker was a totally lifesaver with Adalyn! We now have two of them for baby boy! |
4. Pulling out all the baby gear
When I found out that I was having a boy, I went through all of Adalyn's clothes, blankets, burp cloths, etc. and pulled out what I could use for baby boy. This way, I had a better idea of what I needed to buy and stock up on. I had Troy pull out the car seat, bouncer, swing, playmat, etc. and give them a good cleaning and they are ready to go for whenever baby boy decides to make his arrival.5. Nesting like crazy!!
It is so crazy what a natural instinct that nesting is. I have been cleaning my entire house like crazy, organizing everything, etc. I have scrubbed the shower with a toothbrush, organized cabinets at 5 AM, etc. I feel a lot better having everything ready to go and knowing that our home is clean when we have a newborn since I won't have a lot of time or energy to be cleaning. There you have it!
