OSO Mattress: Getting the Best Night's Sleep Possible
It has been years since I have purchased a mattress. The first mattress that I ever bought was right after Troy and I got married. We still have this mattress. At the time, I was looking to save money since we barely had an income or savings at this point.
Through the years, I have realized that I am not a very good sleeper. It takes me a long time to fall asleep. If I wake up in the night and get up to go the bathroom, it can take up to an hour to fall back asleep, etc. Therefore, I take my sleep very seriously and am often found going to bed early, no matter how lame it may be. When I am not well-rested, I do not feel my best.
As we are planning to transition Adalyn to our guest bedroom eventually to make room for the baby in the nursery, we knew that we needed a new mattress. The mattress in our guest bedroom is the one that I grew up sleeping on- it is about 24 years old.
When OSO contacted me to try one of their mattresses, I had a hard time deciding whether to get a new mattress for my bed or for Adalyn's bed. I chose Adalyn's bed because to be honest, I was not sure if I would love it and didn't want to risk it. Well, I am kind of regretting my decision! This mattress is so amazing and comfortable, I cannot even believe it! I want one for our bed now also.
When I got home from work one day, the box from OSO was sitting on my porch. It was a lot smaller than I expected and it wasn't too hard for my husband and I to get it upstairs. The mattress comes plastic-covered and when you cut off the plastic, the mattress expands. It was not too heavy which was nice.
The mattress has a 1.5" latex layer that is hypoallergenic and will not irritate sensitive skin. The mattresses are made in the US and many are made in Michigan so you know I love that. There is 1.5-2" of pcf foam and 6" of RevTech foam. It has a cover that can be taken off and washed. It has foam springs instead of metal springs for comfort.
We put it on the bed and tried it out. This mattress is incredibly comfortable. I am in my first trimester of pregnancy and the second that I lay on this mattress, I am in heaven! One end is firm and one end is softer. I cannot tell that much of a difference between the two ends. It is like laying on a pillow that you sink into.
I am not the only one who loves it. My husband fell asleep the first time he layed down on it! This mattress is my daughter's #1 spot in our house to hang out on right now. She loves taking her stuffed animals on the mattress and books and puts the stuffed animals "night night". She wraps them with a blanket, lays their heads on a pillow and gives them hugs and kisses. It is so cute.
She loves doing a little jumping on the mattress too. When it is time to switch Adalyn from the crib to the big girl bed, I know that she will love sleeping in this bed.
