Banana Split Smoothie Bowl
This Banana Split Smoothie Bowl tastes like your favorite dessert but is much healthier! It includes the traditional flavors including banana, strawberries and chocolate.
I have become quite the fan of smoothie bowls lately. They are a great way to get fiber and protein in your diet and can be eaten for breakfast, snack or dessert. I love banana splits so why not create a healthy banana split that can be eaten any time of day?
Eating a protein rich breakfast helps you to start your day on the right foot and helps you to stay fuller throughout the morning than eating a low-protein breakfast. I know that when I eat just a bowl of cereal for breakfast, my husband and I are both hungry an hour later.
When we eat something like eggs, oatmeal with peanut butter or a protein-rich smoothie, we are full for much longer. My daughter has it right, she eats a big breakfast, a medium sized lunch and a medium sized dinner.
New research shows that it may be beneficial to get your protein in earlier in the day than later. Nutrition experts recommend 25-30 grams of protein before noon. This smoothie bowl is protein rich and full of flavor. I love smoothie bowls because it adds texture to your normal smoothie. The protein provides 14 grams of protein and the milk provides 8 grams. The nuts provide the rest of the protein to get you to 25+ grams of protein in your breakfast.
