All About Essential Oils
Nature's Truth Essential Oils Review
Through my partnership with Nature's Truth, I have enjoyed writing about different supplements which I know quite a bit about including different vitamins and minerals. Something that I am not very familiar with is essential oils. Nature's Truth sells different essential oils which are known for their different benefits. I turned to my little friend Google to learn about the essential oils and some of the benefits that they have.
According to Mayo Clinic (which I find to be a great source for health information), essential oils use a plant's naturally occurring oils for the treatment of different issues. They can be taken from a plants flowers, leaves, bark, rind, roots or stalks. The oils are not used directly usually but are mixed with something else such as oil, alcohol or lotion and then put on the skin, sprayed in the air or inhaled. When combined with oil, they can be massaged into the skin or poured into bath water.
How essential oils work:
The scents in the essential oils stimulate the nerves in the nose. Then, impulses are sent to the part of the brain that controls memory and emotion. Depending on what kind of essential oil you are using, it can either be calming or stimulating.
I was sent the peppermint and lavender essential oils. The peppermint essential oil is stimulating while the lavender one is calming.
Peppermint Essential Oil:
I love peppermint essential oil because it is so refreshing! In the evenings, I love to sip peppermint tea and a peppermint essential oil massage would be awesome!
Lavender Essential Oil:
Lavender helps to instill deep tranquility, serenity and calm. It helps with relaxation and comfort. I have a lot of trouble falling asleep at times (brain never turns off) so this would be beneficial to me.
My experience with essential oils:
I have been using these essential oils for a bit now and still feel like I have a lot to learn. I have been diluting the essential oils with the sweet almond base oil from Nature's Truth. I mix that with the lavender essential oil and use on Adalyn to help calm her down at night.
If you have questions about whether essential oils are appropriate for you, ask your doctor.
