Where to Eat in Saugatuck: Marro's
On our recent trip to Saugatuck, we were provided with this delicious dinner from Marro's Italian Restaurant. When deciding where to eat, it was hard because there are many different restaurants in Saugatuck. This one stood out to me because the menu looked awesome.
We started the dinner with a round of drinks. Troy ordered the Crane's hard apple cider which he was so excited to try since Crane's is right in Fennville where we used to live. He loved it! I ordered a raspberry mojito. Mojitos are the only mixed drink (besides margaritas) that I enjoy. This one was fresh and the raspberry flavor was fruity and not artificial tasting. Troy thought that this was the best mojito he had tasted.
The best part of the whole meal was this bruschetta. It was made with fresh tomatoes, garlic, basil, mozzarella and balsamic vinegar. I loved how it was baked into a bread bowl. I had not seen bruschetta served this way before. It was amazing and we devoured this entire appetizer. The tomatoes were perfectly ripe, the fresh basil gave a wonderful flavor and of course, it was super garlicky.
Adalyn loved the bruschetta as well! She was a little bit fussy at dinner but would quiet down when we gave her a piece of tomato. Must be the Italian in her ; ).
Troy had the side caesar salad which he enjoyed.
The funniest thing: Troy was eating his salad and holding Adalyn because she was fussy and she reached over to his plate and super quickly grabbed a piece of his lettuce before he could do anything. She ended up really liking it! Haha
For my entree, I ordered the tuscan salad with chicken. This came with romaine lettuce, kalamata olives, red onions, feta cheese, tomatoes, and portobello mushrooms, laced with whipped balsamic vinaigrette dressing. It was awesome. The salad was huge! Next time, I would order the "lighter portion" from the menu. My favorite part was the cooked portobello mushrooms. They were very flavorful. Later that night, I had some of this for a snack.

Troy was craving seafood and went with the shrimp fra diavlo. It came with giant shrimp in a spicy plum marinara sauce over linguine. He very much enjoyed this meal. FYI it is spicy in case you do not like spice. We do though and loved it! Adalyn even got to try a bit of the shrimp which she had not tried before and liked it (we wiped some of the spicy sauce off).
The prices at Marro's were pretty standard for an Italian restaurant. The food was all incredible, high quality and very fresh. Marro's is also known for their pizza which we saw many people order and it looked delicious- maybe next time. On our next trip to Saugatuck, I would definitely go to Marro's again and recommend it to anyone looking for a delicious restaurant.
Thank you to Marro's for providing this delicious meal for us. All opinions are my own.
I was just in Saugatuck last Tuesday! When were you there?
