Tasty Dinner Foods Review
1. Alter Eco Grains- Alter Eco surprised me with a package that included some of their quinoa, rice and some other dessert goodies (coming in another post). I love their grains and think that they make awesome additions to meals. These products are organic. I have used the ruby red rice in a soup before and enjoyed it and made a Greek quinoa salad with their quinoa. Eating whole grains is important because they are good sources of fiber, protein and vitamins/minerals. I rarely ever eat white rice or refined grains and prefer whole grain pastas, rice and quinoa.
2. Kayem Artisan Sausage- These products are all for my husband. He loves sausage. Me on the other hand, I do not eat much sausage but am happy to cook some for him on occasion. I chose three flavors of this sausage for him including fire-roasted pepper jack, andouille and sweet pepper provolone. He chose the fire-roasted pepper jack to try first and really enjoyed them.
I just pan-fried these and served them with a bunch of random sides. These are made with pork serlion which is a lot better quality meat than most sausages would be made from. They also have 35% less fat than typical pork sausage. One link which is quite large is 180 calories, 13 grams fat, 590 mg sodium and 13 grams protein. If you are eating one of these, watch the sodium that you are eating in other foods since it is quite high. The ingredient list is quite simple which is impressive for sausage! Troy loved these and is excited to try the other flavors.
3. Veggie Patch- We were sent a variety of products from Veggie Patch including falafel, red lentil cakes, meatless burgers, savory spinach bites and Mediterranean patties. We eat a lot of vegetarian meals because they are delicious and having some on hand that can quickly be cooked on a busy day is awesome! A lot of times in the evening, Troy and I do not feel like cooking from scratch and just want dinner thrown together ASAP. Veggie Patch foods are great for this! These products have 5-11 grams of protein which is great!
Our favorite so far is the falafel since we love Meditteranean foods. I also like the meatless burgers a lot. Just put on a whole-wheat bun with lettuce, tomato, onions, mustard, etc. and you have your entree ready to go quickly. These have no GMOs and can be frozen or refrigerated. I think that once Adalyn is older, she may like these too since they are easy to pickup and tasty.
