Halloween 2014!
Halloween is a very fun time of year. The weather starts to get cooler, people decorate their homes and it is harvest season. My favorite part of this time of year has to be the harvest. My parent's farm is very plentiful this time of year (except this year was a rough year for the crops). The pears are ready as are the rest of the peaches, apples and grapes.
My parents created a small vineyard and have many different varieties of grapes that are now in season. They make their own wine with the grapes by growing them, pressing them and then fermenting them into wine. It is a very neat process. My favorite are the concord grapes which are so flavorful. I look forward to these so much every year.
It is also a blast to go to an apple orchard this time of year. I love donuts and cider and u-pick apples are great. I love seeing pictures of families at a pumpkin patch, taking hayrides, picking apples, etc. Troy and I were just talking this past weekend how this is one of our favorite times of the year. We love harvest and love to see others celebrating it as well.
For Halloween this year, I do not plan to dress up necessarily but with having a new baby, I cannot wait to dress her up! She has two costumes because this new mom could not say no to either. She is going to be a banana and a candy corn. Both outfits are so cute! She will not understand Halloween this year (or probably for a couple of years) but it will be so much fun when she does.
Before Adalyn was born, Troy and I decorated our home for Halloween knowing that we would probably be too busy to do so with a baby. We have a mix of fall, harvest and Halloween decorations thanks to sales at Big Lots and hand-me-downs from my mom. I love how the house looks!
Another thing that we do for Halloween is watch scary movies during the month of October. This is one of Troy's very favorite things to do the whole year. In fact, he got my mom into loving to do this as well. He loves classic scary movies and we make popcorn and have a little date night in.
The fall and Halloween is a wonderful time of year and I love celebrating it!
Also, here is a coupon to save $1 on Farm Rich Smokehouse BBQ. Later this month, I will be going to a demonstration at Walmart to learn more about these products. Can't wait to create a fun recipe with them! They make different pulled and dry rub meats such as pulled pork BBQ, beef brisket and chicken. These would be fun for a tailgate this time of year. These retail for $6.97 at Walmart. They are fully cooked and ready to eat.

ReplyDeleteOh my goodness - that candy corn costume is just precious! I wish I had seen one of those last year for my son's first Halloween. And just so you know now, that whole not being able to say no to costumes thing doesn't go away...just ask my 3 year old who will be Dora in the morning and a unicorn in the afternoon on Halloween! LOL
ReplyDeleteI love your fall decorations. I tend to steer closer to "Fall" decor than actual Halloween decor but a little is always good to have. That little candy corn outfit is so SWEET!!!! I love it.
