Fall Tailgating Recipes
I love the idea of tailgating for one reason: the food! I am not a big fan of football but sure love to celebrate sports events with delicious foods. I get so excited to have a big spread of food out and get to try a bit of all of it.
For tailgating or watching sports, there are so many different options of what you can make. Some can be healthy and some, not as healthy. I believe that life is all about balance and that you can have a bit of everything as part of a healthy diet.
As part of my partnership with Hebrew National, I created a new recipe using their hot dogs for tailgating this fall.
Hotdogs with Fresh Veggie Relish
Ingredients:
1 package Hebrew National hotdogs
1 package Hebrew National hotdogs
1 package whole wheat hotdog buns
2 whole deli fresh pickles (I used my mom's homemade pickles)
1/2 green pepper
1 garden fresh tomato (or from the farmer's market)
1/4 teaspoon onion powder
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
Directions:
1. Grill hotdogs until cooked well.
2. Meanwhile, finely chop pickles, green pepper and tomato and stir together.
3. Add seasonings and stir well.
4. Right as hotdogs are finishing up on the grill, if you like your bun toasted, add the buns to the grill.
5. To serve, pile hotdog high with fresh veggie relish and add Gulden's mustard and Hunt's ketchup.
This relish is so fresh when made with super fresh ingredients. There is something about these combined flavors that are just awesome. For a tailgate, you could make the relish ahead of time and add to your hotdogs right at your tailgate location.
To balance out the meal, have lots of healthy sides such as fresh blueberries, whole-grain chips and a vegetable salad. Or regular chips, beer and fried appetizers will do too on certain occasions ; ).
Here are some of my other favorite Fall Tailgating Recipes:
Fall hard apple cider
Spicy chili
Garlic northern bean hummus
Drunken hummus and toasted pita chips
Skinny Mexican layer dip
Whole wheat breaded buffalo cauliflower
Grilled onion burgers

With grilling season upon us, everyone is craving an all-American hot dog. What makes a kosher hot dog different? It's all about what makes the cut (and what doesn't). Hebrew National is choosy about what goes into their franks – only 100% pure kosher beef so you know what you’re getting and they taste great. No artificial flavors, colors, fillers or byproducts #greatergrilling
