Family Memories at McDonald's
McDonald's can get a pretty bad rap but I have some great
memories of going there. Back when I was in third grade, my parent’s purchased
a farm about an hour and a half from where we lived. We would go up there most
Friday nights and spend the weekend there. We would pick my dad up from work
and often stop at McDonald's on the way. I remember getting a Big ‘N Tasty
sandwich and enjoying them in the car on the way up north with my family. Now,
we still go up north to the farm but not every weekend and we often don't
travel together. McDonald's was a quick meal for us. We would also often get
their side salads.

Now, there are a few things that I like to get from McDonald's
when I am on the go. I like their coffee and like that I can get it half-decaf.
Another favorite is the Egg White Delight McMuffin. It has egg whites, an
English muffin made with 8 grams of whole grain, cheese and Canadian bacon. On
the go, this makes a good breakfast.
I've also gotten their Fruit and Maple Oatmeal which comes
with oats, red and green apples, cranberries and raisins. I get mine without
brown sugar.
The other items that I like from McDonald's are their
Premium Salads. They are full of veggies and good in a pinch. I like to stop at
McDonald's early in the morning before going to the farmer's market or for an
inexpensive coffee while I am away from home.
There are many options from McDonald's that are not
nutritious but when I am busy and on the go, I think that they have plenty of wholesome
options available.
