The Importance of Staying Hydrated

water

Do you know how important drinking water is? Water helps to maintain the balance of fluid in your body. If you are dehydrated, you will not feel your best. Being thirsty can also make you eat more than usual due to it thinking that you are hungry instead of thirsty. It also helps your kidneys work properly to filter the toxins and waste products out of your body. Water helps to maintain normal bowel function and prevents muscle fatigue.

Water is necessary for heart health. It helps the heart to pump blood more easily through the blood vessels to the muscles. When you are well hydrated, your heart does not have to work as hard. Something that I find really interesting is that if you are thirsty, that means you are already dehydrated. How to prevent this is by drinking water regularly so you do not become dehydrated. If you weigh yourself before and after exercise and see that you have lost weight, that means that you have lost fluid and you need to rehydrate really well.

Personally, if I do not drink enough water, I don't feel good at all. I get irritable, cranky, etc. I always have a 32 oz water bottle right by my side 24/7 to keep me hydrated. I drink about 12 cups of water per day. Other beverages besides water counts as fluids too but those with caffeine or salt can be dehydrating.

When I exercise, I know that I need even more water than normal. If I am on the treadmill, I will sip water while walking or running. Since I've been pregnant, I notice that I need more water on my walks outside too. I have been bringing a water bottle at times so I do not get too thirsty.

Some people believe that alkaline water can be a healthy choice for you. The Bawell Alkaline Water Ionizer helps take your water and make it alkaline. It can be used for cooking, exercise, home, kitchen and more. For more information, visit Facebook.
