Workout Recovery Smoothie
I love to create a smoothie after one of my runs. I usually do not feel like eating much else in the 1/2 hour after my workout but I know that my body needs to refuel. On Saturday morning, I ran 6.2 miles and after I cooled down, I started creating this Workout Recovery Smoothie. It was very tasty! After a workout, I like to include carbohydrates and protein into whatever I eat and this smoothie has both.
I was recently sent some of the new Vega Sport Sugar-Free Energizer to try which is what I used in this smoothie. This energizer comes in a small packet similar to a Crystal Light packet. One packet is only 5 calories. You are supposed to use it before your workout but I decided to use it after instead since I do not like to eat or drink anything other than water before a workout.
The Vega Sports Sugar-Free Energizer helps to boost your short or low intensity workouts. It is also supposed to help enhance mental focus and boost endurance. Ingredients include coconut seed, yerba mate, green tea, ginseng, sodium, turmeric, ginger, potassium and other helpful ingredients. It comes in acai berry and lemon lime flavors.
Ingredients:
1 large handful of spinach
2 small plums or other fruit
1 cup water
1 packet of Vega Sports Sugar-Free Energizer
1 scoop vanilla protein powder
1 large handful of ice
Directions:
Blend all ingredients together and enjoy!
The flavor of the Vega Sports Sugar-Free Energizer really came through in this smoothie and the whole thing tasted like berries. I enjoyed it and would try it sometime before a workout. I did not feel too sore the next day either so I am wondering if this smoothie helped with recovery.
