Mara's Pasta Review and Giveaway
When I started my schooling for dietetics, I learned about the fiber and protein content of whole wheat pasta and made the switch. Now, I basically always eat whole wheat pasta and love it. I was recently sent some Mara's Pasta to review. This is 100% whole wheat pasta and comes in different shapes such as farfalle, spaghetti and fettucine.
This past Friday night, I had my mom, dad and sister over for dinner and cooked up a couple boxes of Mara's pasta to try. The texture was chewier and more dense than some other pastas I have had but I really liked it. My mom is not a fan of whole wheat pasta typically but she said that it was not bitter like she finds some to be.
Everyone in my family really liked it. One serving has 8 grams of protein and 7 grams of fiber which is amazing. This has better stats than any pasta I have eaten before.
I also made an amazing half homemade, half jarred sauce to go over the pasta that was tasty. Here is the recipe:

I also made an amazing half homemade, half jarred sauce to go over the pasta that was tasty. Here is the recipe:
Half-Homemade Meat Pasta Sauce
Ingredients:
1 lb ground meat (I used venison which is very lean)
5 large fresh tomatoes, diced
3 cloves fresh garlic, chopped finely
1 cup mushrooms, chopped
28 ounces of jarred pasta sauce
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
2 teaspoons balsamic vinegar
Directions:
1. Cook meat until browned well.
2. Add tomatoes, mushrooms and garlic and simmer on low.
3. Add pasta sauce, garlic powder and balsamic vinegar and simmer for about 5-10 more minutes.
4. Serve over Mara's pasta.
