I'm Done!!
Remember last April when I announced that I got my dietetic internship? I was so excited, nervous, and ready to finish my journey to becoming a registered dietitian.
In September, I began my internship. I left my job at the nursing home as a certified dietary manager, and started working at a hospital food service for 5 weeks. I also began my master's program at the same time. Then I worked at other rotations including school nutrition, WIC, long term care, a cancer center, a private practice, and my 15 week clinical rotation.
I enjoyed it all and learned tons of information. Back in September, June 1 which was the last day of my internship seemed forever away. Everyone told me that it would fly by but I did not believe it. They were more than right. Those 9 months flew by faster than I could have ever imagined.
I am proud and excited to say that I have completed my internship. All of the 40+ hour weeks of working for free, projects, tests, assignments, etc. are all behind me and I am ready for the next part of my career.
All that is left is that I need to study for and pass the Registered Dietitian exam and then finally, after 5 hard years of work, I will be a registered dietitian. Currently, I am looking for a job in the field of dietetics. I had a really great interview on Wednesday for a long term care position so I am waiting to hear back on that. I don't know what the future holds exactly in terms of my career but I am so excited to find out! I cannot believe how fast everything has come and cannot wait to share with all of you the date when I can call myself a Registered Dietitian!
