Sparkling Strawberry Lemonade
Sparkling Strawberry Lemonade is tart and full of strawberry and lemon flavors. The perfect refreshing beverage for a hot day!
It is hot, hot, hot here in Michigan! We have been having temperatures in the 90's and cold and refreshing beverages sound amazing. When I saw this recipe for Sparkling Strawberry Lemonade on the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics website, I knew I had to make it. I love a tart lemonade and adding strawberries to it sounded even better.
I followed the recipe as is but I would love to use frozen strawberries as well to make a frozen strawberry lemonade. In fact, before I saw this recipe, that's what I was daydreaming about when I was in church this week. It's funny how certain weather will make you want certain drinks and food.
At the long-term care facility that I work in as a dietitian, the residents love having different beverages like this. We serve different kinds of flavored water each day. Some days, it's basil and strawberries. Sometimes, it is mint and cucumber. Sometimes, we make a variety of different beverages such as raspberry lemonade or limeade. It is fun to switch things up to encourage people to drink more fluids, especially when the weather is hot.
As a dietitian, I work closely with many patients with their food and nutrition. I enjoy teaching them about nutrition, especially when they plan to go home soon and will be back to cooking for themselves shortly. This beverage would be perfect for my patients on a hot day!
This sparkling strawberry lemonade is a little bit healthier than your typical juice or pop beverage because it has fiber from the strawberries and a little bit less sugar than other beverages. You can cut back on the amount of sugar as well to make it a little lighter or if you like it more tart like I do. It is the perfect drink summer!

The Sparkling Strawberry Lemonade sounds amazing! I think if I try this, I would substitute Xylitol for the sugar. Xylitol is a "Healthy" Natural Sweetener and has 1/3 fewer calories than Sugar. It is also an excellent Alternative to Sugar! It is Non-GMO. Xylitol is one of the healthiest and most unique sweeteners you'll find!
