During the summer months, we are constantly grilling. Some of my favorites are grilled chicken, grilled vegetables, grilled pizza and kebabs. I love experimenting with different kinds of kebabs.

I decided to experiment with something new-to-me on a kebab, bratwurst! They turned out delicious! I just threaded pieces of brats on a skewer with a bunch of veggies and grilled it one night for dinner and was very happy with the results. I asked Troy's opinion on what should go on these and he had the best idea- soft pretzels. I just wasn't sure how to have them not burn on the grill because they would only need a couple of minutes on there. Maybe next time.
We love to eat outside as well. This past weekend, we were up at my parent's farm and ate most of our meals outside. It was so nice! In Michigan, the amount of time that you can actually eat outside is very limited so we try to get out there any nice day that we can. It is so simple to bring our meals outside yet I often forget to do it. I literally put it on our summer bucket list to eat outside as much as possible so I do not forget!
These would be so fun served at a party because they are different than just having a bratwurst or sausage on a bun. They are fun and pretty nutritious with the veggies too. You can feel free to use the vegetables that you want on here. I think that pieces of corn on the cob would be great in addition to these veggies or some fresh pineapple.
For this recipe, I used Smithfield's Yuengling Bratwurst from Kroger (also sold at Dillons, Baker's, Ralph's and more). I had never had them before but thought that they were very tasty. It is infused with Yuengling's Lager beer and pairs well with the beer. It is made with premium cuts of pork and a blend of sweet and savory spices with no MSG added. In case you haven't had Yuengling Lager before, it is a flagship beer from America's Oldest Brewery. The beer is a rich amber color and has roasted caramel malt which provides a subtle sweetness. The beer and brats is a perfect pairing.

Were you concerned that the brats were going to be undercooked before the veggies got overcooked?
ReplyDeleteI wasn't! I'm not an expert brat cooker though so I didn't even think of that. Everything cooked evenly. I cut the brats in small enough pieces that it was fine.
DeleteThese are so delicious! And I tried something similar, and you are right, cutting the brats into smaller pieces worked great. Plus the veggies get that nice grilled flavor.
ReplyDeleteSo glad you liked them!!
