Where to Stay in Saugatuck: The BeachWay Resort
For two years, Troy and I lived in Fennville, MI which is way on the west side of the state. We loved it there. The beach is the most beautiful part. Fennville is located right by Saugatuck which is a super cute tourist town. They have bed and breakfasts, restaurants, shops, beaches and more. Troy and I decided that we wanted to visit this area again this summer to reminisce about the times we had together when we lived there.
We were kindly provided with a complimentary night hotel stay at The BeachWay Resort in exchange for a review on my blog. We had an excellent experience and would highly recommend this hotel.
Let's start with The BeachWay Resort. The room was large, updated and very clean. The bathroom was huge which was perfect to put Adalyn's pack and play in so that she could have her own quiet area. I don't know how this happened but she slept 10 hours straight. She normally sleeps very poorly on trips (and sometimes at home too).
The bed was a big king sized bed which was very comfortable. The room also had a couch which was nice. The room was not cramped at all. The resort was very child friendly and there were many kids staying there. We were nervous that our kid would be loud among a bunch of adults but this was not the case.
The BeachWay resort has a very nice pool which Adalyn loved. Outside of our room, there was a nice deck with chairs and tables. After Adalyn went to bed, this was very nice for us to be able to go right outside the room (with our baby monitor) and enjoy some adults-only time. Our room was overlooking the pool. We had fun exploring The BeachWay resort which had many levels and different types of rooms. They have hotel style rooms as well as cottages and more. We were impressed.
The staff was very courteous and helpful. They offer DVDs for rental and have lots of games. Troy and I borrowed their Scattergories game and had a blast playing this together. If you want to cook for yourself, you can use one of their grills which would be perfect if you are staying there for awhile or if you have a larger family. They also had wi-fi and cable in the rooms with DVD players.
The BeachWay does not offer a full breakfast but has coffee, fruit including bananas, apples and oranges, mini donuts and cinnamon raisin bread. It was a nice, small spread.
The BeachWay Resort is located right by Oval Beach which was awesome. In the morning, we strapped Adalyn on in her carrier and walked to the beach. The location was perfect and we would definitely return to this location again.
Also, it is located right by the ferry which you can take across the river for just $1 per person into town. It is located near Mount Baldhead which is a set of giant stairs that takes you to the beach- 282 stairs to be exact. We walked these stairs which was hard but a great experience.
We had an excellent stay at The BeachWay Resort and would highly recommend it to anyone wanting to stay in the Saugatuck area.
