Ask the Nutritionist: Dairy Free Sources of Calcium
Reader Amanda (great name!!) asked about how to get calcium in foods that do not contain dairy. Here are some great sources for those who don't eat dairy.
1. Collard greens
2. Soymilk with added calcium
3. Almonds
4. Oranges (and orange juice fortified with calcium)
4. Kale
5. Tofu
6. Broccoli
7. Salmon
8. Soybeans
9. Chia seeds

I didn't know almonds had calcium. Is this removed in the almond milk process?

My husband has just discovered soy beans. He loves to snack on them. JDaniel isn't interested yet.

ReplyDeleteI have recently recovered from an eating disorder and my doctor said it would be fine to go back to being strictly vegan although he does not recommend it, what is your take on being vegan as someone who is very active in the gym and tries to eat a lot of protein mostly from protein bars?
